Purgatory

On the edge of the frontier, Purgatory offers a final stop for visitors and colonists before they adventure into the unknown. It is a branch of Project Dusk.

"This is your last stop before the end. Your last chance to turn back. The journey will be rough, and dangerous. But if you make it to the border, you will find a place offering opportunities to all." - Purgatory Greeter

Aside from Shulker Ranch, Purgatory was the first formal settlement in the (new) end dimension.

History

Constructed as the first phase of Project Dusk, Purgatory is a city built on the edge of the End Dimension's wasteland. It is the final safe haven before the empty void and scattered islands that lay beyond its walls. Once the Caretakers of MOON and the citizens of Chala Kii got the Cascadian Gateway up and running, a handful of pioneers headed into the End. This first survey group helped terraform the landscape and paved the way for proper construction. These early pioneers are now the only permanent residents of Purgatory, welcoming and guiding travelers on their way to Cascadia and beyond.

Layout & Amenities

Gateway

The first thing any player will find upon exiting the appropriate end gateway is a road leading up to the city. It sits atop a pedestal connecting to the road. The path crosses over a bridge and then is lit by a series of lamps up to the east gate.

The Firework Factory

Immediately visible from anywhere, the two largest towers in the city house the internals that makes up the firework factory. The farm supplies materials indispensable for anyone carrying elytra who opt to fly around the end rather than take any roads. The collection point is just north of the towers and can be accessed by doublechests on either side. Note: currently the farm is incapable of crafting fireworks directly because of an issue regarding CartCraft. Also note: Due to the admins' decision to disallow any hostile mob spawners in the end, currently the gunpowder half is non-functional. Gunpowder is occasionally brought over manually but this may not be viable long term.

Cow Farms

Immediately south of the towers on the inner two plots is two cow farms. These produce food for travelers and leather for elytra repairs. The spawner modules are contained in the roofs so idling inside or on top should produce materials as needed.

Repair Stations

Past the cow farms near the south gates are two repair station buildings. Each contains a bench, some crafting tables, and nearly a dozen anvils. They are mostly intended for repairing elytra but can be used by anyone for anything.

Smelteries

By the east gates are two buildings with auto smelters. They can be used for converting wood into charcoal, harvesting chorus fruit for purpur, or just about anything else. Just make sure to bring your own fuel source.

Safehouses

Past the main entrance at the west gate are two safehouses. These locations are designed for players to rest and sleep if needbe. They are essnentially midway communal houses for those traveling further into the wasteland. Each has a small library, cabinets with various games or tools, a few beds, a table and chairs.

Info Booths

Nested between the Firework Factory pickup area and the north exit are two info centers. The left contains information regarding Purgatory, and the right contains information about the Lonesome Road
